Director of Operations – Rock Springs Nature Center

The Macon County Conservation District is seeking a full time Director of Operations.

Summary: Ideal attributes include a person that is self-motivated with well-rounded knowledge of park and conservation management practices. The selected candidate will be current on emerging trends in the field, be able to direct and carry out multiple assignments at the same time, service oriented and able to facilitate department staff to meet short and long range goals of the District

Terms of Position: Permanent, full time position at 40 hours per week. Will include occasional evening and weekend duties.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a major course of study in forestry, natural resource management, park and recreation administration or related field with emphasis in park, conservation or forest preserve maintenance management. Also required is seven years of increasing supervisory experience in a similar work environment. In addition, knowledge of and experience in budget development and management, construction, safety, insurance compliance for public facilities and worker protection, grant writing, planning, compliance requirements of local, state and federal laws pertinent to land and water protection, ADA, procurement processes and municipal property ownership. Current First Aid and CPR certification and a valid Illinois driver’s license or obtained within six months of hire. Complete a successful background check and drug screen.

Marketing Specialist – Rock Springs Nature Center

The Macon County Conservation District is seeking a full time Marketing Specialist at Rock Springs Nature Center. The selected candidate will be self-motivated and organized, with a well-rounded understanding of marketing, via both traditional avenues and social media, and exceptional communication skills.

Compensation: Salary starting at $45,000 – $55,000 (DOQ) with health, dental, and vision insurance

Terms of Position: Permanent, full time position at 40 hours per week. Will include occasional evening and weekend duties.

Duties: Perform marketing and promotional duties for the Macon County Conservation District, including but not limited to creating marketing materials such as press releases, ads, brochures, and flyers; managing District social media accounts; preparing the quarterly Prairie Islander newsletter; coordinating fundraisers for the Macon County Conservation Foundation; attending community events; and more: See Full Job Description.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field. Successful experience in managing and tracking multiple projects in a similar work environment. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient in the use of computers and associated software programs for development of visual graphics and various media formats. Valid Illinois driver’s license. Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
