X-treme Camps 2012
- for youth ages 12 - 16 years of age

These one-day camps offer exciting adventures in the out of doors for youth ages 12-16.

If you want to kick the fun up to a new level, try these camps out for size.

X-treme Camps include adventures such as horseback riding, canoeing, astronomy, bike riding, and more!

 

 

Horseback Riding - 2501
Ages 9 to 14.
Whether you've never ridden a horse or are a real ranch hand, you'll enjoy this trail ride at Pere Marquette State Park. We'll add a trip to the Visitors Center and finish the day riding the Brussels Ferry. Fee $60, reservations required. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
8:00 a.m. sharp - 5:00 p.m. on June 15th
Canoeing - 2501
Ages 9 to 14.
Campers will learn canoeing techniques in our Cattail Ponds, then we will test our skills at a new site on Lake Decatur. Bring your lunch, shoes that can get wet and a towel. Fee $40, reservations required. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
9:00 a.m. sharp - 3:00 p.m. on June 22nd
Sam Vadalabene Bike Trail - 2502
Senior Extreme
Ages 12 to 16.
If you enjoy biking in nature then here's the camp for you! We will spend the day riding the 20 mile paved bike trail stopping at sites along the route such as Limestone Bluffs, seeing 19th Century towns, the town of Grafton and many other wonderful sites. Fee $60, reservations required. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
8:00 a.m. sharp - 5:00 p.m. on June 29th
Astronomy/Cookout - 2501
Ages 9 to 14.
See the stars inside during the day and then experience the night sky. We will visit the Planetarium in Normal and then enjoy an evening at Friends Creek Conservation Area as we cook our supper, tell stories and observe the night sky through the telescope. Fee $60, reservations required. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
2:00 p.m. sharp - 10:00 p.m. on July 13th
Wildlife Prairie State Park/Spirit of the Day Paddleboat Tour - 2501
Ages 9 to 14.
We will begin our trip in Peoria visiting the natural habitat of the State Park. A train or adventure trek ride will end our time at the park. We will continue to the docks in Peoria for an afternoon ride on the Spirit of the Day Paddleboat for a trip up an down the Illinois River. Fee $60, reservations required. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
8:00 a.m. sharp - 5:00 p.m. on July 27th
Tubing on Sugar Creek - 2502
Senior Extreme
Ages 12 to 16.
Campers will enjoy a fun and exciting day of tubing as we float the beautiful Sugar Creek at Turkey Run State Park in western Indiana. Bring your lunch, swimsuit, towel and dry clothes. Fee $60, reservations required. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
