A Celebration of the Natural and Cultural Heritage of Central Illinois at Rock Springs Conservation Area

Come out to enjoy the annual Prairie Celebration at Rock Springs Conservation Area. The event includes a variety of free fun, educational activities, and demonstrations for all ages. Nature lovers can enjoy the reptile program and a prairie hike. For those interested in history the circa 1860 Homestead Prairie Farm will be open for tours. Visitors can also walk through a reenactor camp and see several living history artisans demonstrate their crafts. The reenactor camp features a potter, weaver, cooper, blacksmith and many others.

In addition, there is an old-time medicine show and musical performances. Wagon rides are offered and depart from the Rock Springs Nature Center. Come out to support the local Rock Springs Ground Squirrels vintage baseball team as they compete using Civil War era rules against other teams in the annual Stephen A. Douglas Cup Vintage Baseball Festival.
