Theme: Sense of Wonder

Day 1: Music or Mayhem
Some nature sounds are delightful and some are scary. We will explore nature noises and make some music of our own with animal calls and home-made recycled instruments. Fee $10, reservations required. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
9:00 a.m. – noon on July 23th
Day 2: Eye Spy
We use our eyes to learn about our colorful world. Do animals see the colors we see or maybe colors we can’t see? We will enhance our vision with tools so we can experience vision like an eagle, an owl and an insect. We will also get down and dirty to see whats up with close ups. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
9:00 a.m. – noon on July 24th
Day 3 : The Nose Knows
Have you ever smelled a skunk? Some smells are easy to recognize, even with our poor noses. Many animals depend on their noses more than any other sense. Learn how some mother mammals find their babies, do a smell preference experiment. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
9:00 a.m. – noon on July 25th
Day 4: Taste Test
We will explore Nature’s grocery store as we look for wild foods for animals and ourselves. Learn how some plants and animals protect themselves by tasting bad and examine our own taste buds. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
9:00 a.m. – noon on July 26th

Day 5: The Texture of Nature
We saved the best for last! We will use our sense of touch to explore the natural world – soft moss, cool grass, rough bark. We will discover animals that rely on touch more than any other sense. Then we will experience cool water by wading in the creek. Parents, be ready for wet, muddy kids. Meets at Rock Springs Nature Center.
9:00 a.m. – noon on July 27th
