Last
week, Macon County Illinois got a good dose of Spring with warmer
temperatures and sunshine. What a great time to get
your kids involved in some “green” activities!
Go on a hike at one of your conservation
areas and introduce your children to the local plants and animals.
We have already seen deer, turtles, snakes, songbirds, waterfowl,
hawk, buzzards, and many more signs of spring!
Some of the spring
wildflowers are days away from blooming. You can check them out
along a woodland trail. Visit different ecosystems (prairie,
forest and wetland) to see different kinds of plants and animals.
View maps of the
conservation areas to find a site near you.
